Happy Tuesday, everyone! With temperatures dropping and winter right around the corner, I’ve been building up my closet with winter wardrobe essentials. Although I love trying out the latest fashion trends, it’s good to have basics that you can rotate in your wardrobe throughout the season. These staples can be worn for any occasion, allowing you to build a collection of chic looks for winter.
You may have some of these staples already lying around in your wardrobe. For the ones you don’t and need some ideas for, I’ve rounded up my favorite winter wardrobe essentials below.
1. Skinny Jeans
Skinny jeans are perfect for winter staple because their silhouette allows you to layer multiple items on top for warmth. You can’t go wrong with a comfy pair of skinny jeans, plus they pair great with any style boot. I love pairing my skinnies with a tan or brown ankle bootie or an over-the-knee boot.
2. Coats
I have to admit I’ve been on a coat kick lately. There are so many different styles and colors it’s hard to pick just one! This year I knew I wanted a neutral coat that would go with everything. I found this faux fur coat from the Nordstrom fall sale. I sized up one size so I can wear chunky knits underneath and am wearing a size medium, for reference.
3. Neutral Handbags
A neutral handbag is an absolute must in any season. They pair well with so many outfits, especially in the winter time when your wardrobe hues are a little more muted. If you’re thinking about investing in a designer handbag I recommend picking a neutral bag that will go with any outfit.
4. Boots
In the fall and winter months boots become a daily staple for me. On a day-to-day basis you can find me in an ankle bootie, like this Sam Edelman pair that I wear with faux leather leggings or black skinnies to work. For a super chic winter look I love a good pair of over the knee boots. My favorite OTK boots I’ve been wearing lately are these Halogen OTK boots (in gray) and this Steve Madden OTK (light brown) pair.
5. Blanket Scarfs
A blanket scarf is a chic and effortless addition to any winter outfit. There are countless ways to style this cold weather accessory, either thrown carelessly over your shoulder or wrapped around multiple times.
